Does the Primary diagnosis code entered at I0020B also need to be entered as an active diagnosis at I8000?

Yes, per the RAI guidelines for coding I0020, it states “Include the primary medical condition coded in this item in Section I: Active Diagnoses in the last 7 days.” (RAI Manual, Oct 2019, Pg. I-2). Diagnosis coded at I0020B will not result in NTA points if they are not also checked in Section I (if there is a checkbox option for the diagnosis) or indicated at I8000.
