This session will provide an overview of the Resident Rights regulations at §483.10, with an emphasis on the review the most commonly cited Resident Rights Requirements. Strategies to avoid citations related to Resident Rights will be emphasized through discussion of: Actual citation examples, Strategies for successfully managing the survey process & understanding the critical element pathways used to guide surveyor investigations & Implementing survey preparedness activities to prevent Resident Rights citations.

- Identify the regulatory requirements related to Resident Rights
- Identify survey procedures that describe how Resident Rights requirements are reviewed for compliance during the annual survey process
- Identify examples of how Resident Rights are commonly cited in the long-term care survey process
- Explain strategies for incorporating survey preparedness related to Resident Rights into facility QAPI processes
