This session focuses on applying effective, person-centered fall prevention interventions based on resident specific risk factors and fall history. In this first of a 2-part discussion of intervention planning, physical function risk factors and interventions to address them will be reviewed including medication review, balance, vision and vestibular considerations, positioning and posture, footwear and selection of appropriate Restorative Nursing Programs. Best practices for applying information gathered from evidence-based assessments, trends of past falls and connecting the dots between clinical findings and fall prevention approaches will be emphasized.

  2. Review targeted interventions for common geriatric deficit areas that contribute to fall risk
