Course Descriptions

 

  • PDPM Essentials & Roles of the Interdisciplinary Team in Assessment and Coding for Reimbursement Accuracy
    • This 1.25 hour webinar will review the basics of PDPM with a focus on identifying interdisciplinary team member roles and collaborative processes to promote MDS coding and reimbursement accuracy. As the introductory session, this webinar will provide an overview of the 5 PDPM components and set the stage for the remaining sessions in the series.
  • Clinical Category and Comorbid Conditions (MDS Sections I and J)
    • This 1.25 hour webinar will review MDS items in sections I and J used to determine the resident’s Clinical Category which directly impacts the PT, OT, and SLP case mix groups as well as comorbidities that can further impact the SLP and NTA components under PDPM. ICD 10 mapping will be emphasized along with guidance on effective systems for ensuring ‘active’ diagnosis reporting in section I.
  • Assessing Cognition, Mood, & Behaviors (Sections B, C, D, E)
    • This 1.25 hour webinar will review MDS items in sections B, C, D, and E that impact the SLP and Nursing Components under PDPM. Conducting resident interviews (BIMS, PHQ 9) according to RAI guidelines will be emphasized along with effective monitoring and reporting of behavioral symptoms to ensure appropriate care provision and reimbursement.
  • MDS Proficiency Series: Assessing Self-Care & Mobility (MDS Sections G and GG)
    • This 1.25-hour webinar will review MDS items in sections G and GG used to report functional, self-care, and mobility status and goals. The purpose of and differences between these sections will be reviewed with emphasis on the assessment of and supporting documentation for Admission and Interim GG performance items which are used to determine the PT, OT, and Nursing Function Scores under PDPM.
  • Rehabilitative & Restorative Services (MDS Sections H and O)
    • This 1.25-hour webinar will review MDS items in sections H and O used to report Restorative Nursing Services which may impact the Nursing component under PDPM and Therapy provision with emphasis on group and concurrent therapy considerations and restorative nursing program requirements. Changes to Section O of the PPS Discharge assessment will also be covered.
  • Nursing, Nutritional, & NTA Services (MDS Sections H, J, K, M, and O)
    • This 1.25-hour webinar will review services reported in MDS sections H, J, K, M, and O that impact the Nursing, SLP, and NTA components under PDPM. RAI coding requirements will be emphasized with focus on ARD scheduling considerations and ongoing monitoring of conditions and services that may warrant completion of the Interim Payment Assessment (IPA).
