After having been long stigmatized as an “addiction” or as “substance abuse”, Substance Use Disorders are now recognized and identified as a collection of cognitive, behavioral, and physiological symptoms, wherein an individual persists in using a substance despite experiencing significant problems and adverse consequences.  This session will review the characteristics of this disease, along with identifying who is at risk, what substances are included, intervention strategies, and how it impacts Long Term Care.

  2. Identify who is at risk for Substance Use Disorders.
