Skin and Wound Essentials Workshop

Wound care in post-acute settings presents assessment, treatment and documentation challenges for the nursing team. This workshop is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the essential knowledge and skills needed for implementing a comprehensive and effective wound care management system. Participants will be prepared to meet the CMS wound related requirements in the areas of assessment, MDS coding, CAA and care plan development, as well as prevention and treatment of pressure associated wounds.

Objectives:

1. 1. Recognize the essential elements of a thorough and accurate skin/wound assessment.
   2. Identify the MDS coding requirements for wounds.
   3. Review essential information to provide to the MD when providing wound notification.
   4. Become familiar with the common assessment and documentation pitfalls that can result in poor clinical outcomes, survey deficiencies and potential litigation.

CEUs
